March 13: An Update on Coastline's COVID-19 Response
In light of the latest developments with COVID-19 and in an attempt to keep our Coastline community healthy, our Coastline School Board is closing Coastline next week, March 16-20. We will be adopting a Remote Learning environment beginning Tuesday, March 17. We are NOT going to announce to our student body about the change for next week, because I do not want to incite fear or panic, so I am asking that you tell your child after you pick him/her up from school today. You might communicate that we are making this decision because we want our families to remain healthy and this is the best way to do that.
We are going to adopt a Remote Learning environment beginning next Tuesday, March 17-Friday, March 20. The details of this will be worked out at a Coastline staff in-service on Monday, March 16 and communicated to you on Monday as well. We will not be sending textbooks or materials home today. Our plan is that we will provide opportunity on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning for you to come to school to gather textbooks and work packets that will be prepared on Monday during our in-service. Please check your email on Monday morning for details about this.
The following week, March 23-27 is Spring Break.
Our Coastline Board will make an informed decision by March 27 whether we continue our Remote Learning for the week of March 30 or resume our traditional school schedule.
The following events have been postponed:
Grandparents Day- March 20
Coastline Spring Program- April 9
Our Read-a-Thon still ends this Sunday. We will work out the gathering of forms and money in the days to come and our awards assembly will be postponed until we are again gathered for school at Coastline. Thank you again for your flexibility.
Our Coastline Board is still going to meet on Monday, March 16 at 6:30 pm. We will be discussing the best course of action for our Missions Trip, the Sacramento Trip and Hume Lake field trips.
Thank you for your continued flexibility. I am happy to answer any questions or concerns that you have about what this Remote Learning environment will look like. Please email me rather than call so that I can respond carefully to every inquiry. I will be checking my email throughout the weekend and I will do my best to keep you informed.
God is good ALL the TIME. This is an opportunity to work together, to grow in trust and faithfulness and to spread peace in a chaotic time. To God be the glory.
With thanks for each of you,
Deedee (on behalf of the Coastline Board)
